the Genus Khaya, also known as African Mahogany, is found in the forests of the tropic-equatorial belt that from Liberia reaches, albeit with some discontinuity, up to the Congo Basin and Angola with a limited extension also in Uganda and Tanzania: in the north region of the northern edge of the Gulf of Guinea, the Genus also goes into the savannahs characterizing the driest area.
Depending on the species, the dimensions may be different so that the height varies from 20 to 45 m: the stems often have rather extended based buttresses above which the diameter can even exceed 1.50 m, then continuing with fairly regular bearing. The sapwood is pink or whitish, more rarely yellowish: it is clearly differentiated from the heartwood which presents itself with red tones ranging from purple to reddish brown, sometimes with dispersed darker veins.
Luxury furniture, fixtures, carpentry and furnishings of particular commitment, high quality floor boards, decoration both in solid pieces and in the form of cut veneers, artistic craftsmanship, knick-knacks and turned objects.
