ABOUT SIPO

The wood has a color between brown and brown-purplish. The sapwood is thin, greyish-white differentiated from the brown, brown-purplish heartwood. Very similar to Sapeli from which it differs for being odorless with a less marked vein. It has fine texture and stable color. It is a very durable wood, especially in humid places, and is difficult to impregnate and is not attacked by insects. The trees come from the humid forests of the African tropical-equatorial belt (from Sierra Leone, Cameroon, Liberia to the Central African Republic, Congo, up to Uganda).
